Learning Beyond Classrooms: Government Higher Secondary School, Vayalur Students Visit the Braille Section @ Anna Centenary Library

Students and staff from Government Higher Secondary School, Vayalur visited the Braille Section of Anna Centenary Library on 7th February 2025. A total of 38 students and 8 staff members actively participated in this educational and awareness-oriented visit.

During the interaction, the students were introduced to the various specialized services provided for visually impaired users, including:
  • Access to audio books and audio learning materials
  • Assistance for submitting Government job applications
  • Volunteer support services
  • Scribe (reader–writer) services for examinations and official needs
The session helped students understand how libraries play a vital role in empowering persons with visual disabilities through inclusive information services. The students showed great enthusiasm and curiosity while learning about Braille resources, assistive technologies, and support systems available at the library.

The visit was both informative and inspiring, leaving the students motivated and appreciative of inclusive library services that promote equal access to knowledge.
