IIT-Madras’ TTK Centre for Rehabilitation Research and Device Development (R2D2) has launched a powerful campaign to address the daily challenges faced by India’s 90-130 million people with disabilities. A compelling short film highlights the stark contrast in navigating public spaces, transportation, and societal attitudes for those with disabilities, emphasizing the lack of accessibility in places like restaurants and parks. With a team of over 40 experts, R2D2 is developing affordable, practical assistive technologies, including mobility aids designed for India’s diverse terrains. By involving the disability community in the design process, they ensure solutions meet real needs.
